Position Overview
- The Operation Engineer – EV Charging Station is responsible for the technical operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. The role involves ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and safety of the charging infrastructure, working closely with cross-functional teams to enhance the efficiency of EV charging networks.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Maintenance
- Monitor the real-time performance of EV charging stations and ensure maximum uptime.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of charging equipment, including hardware and software troubleshooting.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to chargers, power systems, and network connectivity.
- Coordinate with equipment vendors, service providers, and field technicians for repairs and upgrades.
- Maintain records of maintenance schedules, fault reports, and service activities.
System Monitoring & Performance Optimization
- Utilize remote monitoring tools to track charger performance, energy consumption, and user activities.
- Analyze data to identify recurring issues and implement corrective actions.
- Optimize charging station energy efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Support software and firmware updates for charging equipment.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all charging stations comply with local electrical codes, safety standards, and company regulations.
- Conduct routine inspections and risk assessments to prevent potential failures or hazards.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols for field operations.
Customer & Technical Support
- Provide technical support to EV users, addressing inquiries and troubleshooting issues remotely or on-site.
- Work closely with customer service teams to improve user experience and reduce downtime.
- Assist in handling emergency situations, such as power failures or charger malfunctions.
Project Coordination & Infrastructure Expansion
- Support new charging station installations, commissioning, and integration with existing networks.
- Collaborate with engineering teams for site selection, power capacity planning, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Assist in testing and evaluating new charging technologies and equipment.
Reporting & Documentation
- Generate regular reports on station performance, uptime, fault trends, and maintenance activities.
- Document troubleshooting procedures, technical solutions, and best practices.
- Maintain an inventory of spare parts and tools required for repairs.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Energy Engineering, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in electrical operations, maintenance, or infrastructure support (preferably in EV charging, power distribution, or renewable energy).
- Experience in working with electrical power systems, PLCs, and SCADA systems is a plus.
- Working 5 Day/Week
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of EV charging technologies, power electronics, and grid infrastructure.
- Familiarity with DC fast chargers (CCS, CHAdeMO), AC chargers, and load management systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical and networking issues (e.g., OCPP, Modbus, TCP/IP).
- Experience with electrical testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, insulation testers, power analyzers).
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Good communication skills for interacting with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
- Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
Certifications & Licenses (Preferred but Not Required)
- Professional Engineering (PE) License or equivalent certification.
- - Electrical Safety Certification (e.g., NFPA 70E, OSHA Electrical Safety).
- EVSE-specific training from manufacturers or industry organizations.
Work Conditions & Expectations
- Location: Field-based or office-based, with site visits as required.
- Work Schedule: May include on-call support, night shifts, or weekends for emergency maintenance.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in outdoor environments, lift equipment, and travel to multiple charging locations.
