Our client produces sustainable alternative protein powder derived from fruit fly larvae. Their revolutionary cultivation technology requires 99% less water and land compared to traditional livestock farming. As the Rearing Facility Manager, you will have an exciting opportunity to oversee operations and manage the facility.

Responsibilities:

Manage and oversee all aspects of the fruit fly rearing facility, including production, operations, logistics, and quality control
Develop and implement standard operating procedures for various processes and maintenance of rearing equipment
Optimise production processes to maximise yield, quality, and efficiency while adhering to safety and regulatory guidelines
Monitor and maintain inventory of necessary supplies, including food medium, packaging materials, and equipment
Ensure the facility is compliant with relevant food safety regulations, quality standards, and sanitation protocols
Recruit, train, and manage a team of employees, providing guidance, performance evaluations, and promoting a positive work environment
Collaborate with research and development teams to implement improvements in rearing techniques, larval processing methods, and overall production efficiency
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to production, inventory, quality control, and other relevant areas
Liaise with suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders to coordinate orders, deliveries, and resolve any issues that may arise
Stay updated with industry trends and best practices related to fruit fly rearing and food manufacturing

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (biology, food science, agriculture) or equivalent experience. Advanced degree is a plus
Proven experience in managing and operating a food manufacturing or similar production facility
Familiarity with food safety regulations, quality control procedures, and sanitation practices
Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire employees
Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make decisions under time constraints
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders
Attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of relevant software applications and tools for inventory management and record-keeping
