Quality Engineer - Tire Uniformity

Job Summary:
This role is responsible for ensuring tire uniformity (TU), and related yield targets (TG, TB) are achieved. The engineer will analyze yield data, drive improvement initiatives, and ensure new products meet quality standards from the initial specification phase through to production start-up (SOP).
Responsibilities:
- Provide detailed analysis and feedback on production yields.
- Provide accurate yield projections for new Original Equipment (OE) tire articles, specifically regarding uniformity.
- Develop and recommend process optimizations to achieve target yields (TU, TG, TB).
- Implement approved recommendations to improve and meet yield targets.
- Participate in the review and acceptance of Engineering Trial Orders (ETO) or Initial Specification Development (ISD) prior to product release, including involvement in relevant meetings to ensure new articles meet uniformity and yield targets at SOP.
- Lead continuous improvement projects focused on maintaining and enhancing TU/TG/TB yield performance.
- Manage yield improvement activities for both OE and Replacement tires.
- Address OE customer-specific uniformity requirements, resolve uniformity weak points based on Customer Special Requirements (CSR), and support customer audits (in collaboration with OE Quality).
- Conduct in-depth statistical analysis, interpret data, and optimize processes using standard work procedures for yield management, with a focus on OE TU yield.
- Coordinate the Uniformity Team, working closely with Quality Process and Product Teams, and Process Engineering.
- Participate in the approval process for changes to technology, materials, equipment, and processes, providing assessments of the impact on yield performance.
- Perform root cause analysis to address factors contributing to low yield.
- Initiate and oversee plant trials aimed at achieving TU yield targets.
- Compile and maintain knowledge base of yield optimization best practices.
- Analyze, implement, and track corrective and preventive actions for yield improvement.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing of best practices across plants.
- Drive initiatives to reduce Plant Scrap (KPI 7).
- Implement and manage an early warning system for Scrap 7 at the article level.
- Prepare and share Quality Reports and information with the Supplier Chain (OP).
- Ensure the implementation of control measures.
- Promote awareness and understanding of Environment, Safety, and Health (ESH) responsibilities and duties.
- Ensure prompt reporting and response to unsafe or polluting incidents, and implement preventive measures.
- Demonstrate exemplary ESH behavior and encourage others to do the same.
