About Our Group:
Our team focuses on advancing mechanical automation technologies to support new product form factors at the Seagate Korat Slider Factory. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled engineer to lead the development of Mount & Dismount automation systems for next-generation optimized form factor products. This role is crucial for ensuring efficient, precise, and scalable automation solutions that align with evolving product and manufacturing demands.
About the Role – You Will:
• Lead the design and development of automation solutions for mounting and dismounting substrates with varying form factors and dimensions.
• Analyze current manual workflows to identify constraints, alignment challenges, and key failure modes, forming the foundation for automation design.
• Develop detailed automation requirements, including substrate handling logic, adhesive application methods, curing strategies, dismounting mechanisms, positioning tolerances, and operator safety.
• Provide technical specifications and conceptual guidance to internal design engineering teams and external automation vendors during equipment development.
• Participate in equipment design reviews, lead process validation activities, define test plans, and support pilot evaluations to ensure successful implementation.
• Define and track key process metrics such as cycle time, first pass yield, alignment accuracy, and uptime to ensure robust process performance.
• Ensure thorough documentation of processes, including SOPs, risk assessments, validation reports, and change management controls.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product engineering, manufacturing, and equipment development teams to ensure alignment of automation strategy with product roadmaps.
• Drive the transition from proof-of-concept to production-ready solutions, managing timelines and coordinating technical deliverables.
About You:
• Bachelor’s or Higher degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Solid understanding of tooling, robotics, vision systems, and mechanical assembly principles.
• Proficient in CAD software and familiar with motion control, sensors, and basic automation control systems.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and vendors through complex engineering projects.
• Effective at managing projects from concept through deployment under tight timelines.
Preferred Experience:
• Knowledge in automated bar/substrate mount & dismount systems in electronics or precision manufacturing.
• Familiarity with adhesive bonding, alignment tooling, curing processes, and clean handling techniques.
• Knowledge of inline metrology and closed-loop feedback systems for process control.
